The New World Order

Mood swings can follow media swings, but behind the big headlines of today is an agenda for tomorrow. Tony Pearce considers possible outcomes of today’s news

The next few weeks will be crucial in the development of world events. As the USA assembles its coalition against terrorism there are two possibilities: failure or success.

If it is a failure it will result in the further destabilisation of the world as terrorism and terrorist supporting regimes gain power and influence and threaten the world economy. If Islamic terrorists take Pakistan and Saudi Arabia (a possibility if things go wrong) it will be catastrophe for the entire world system. Through Pakistan they will get control of the nuclear bomb and through Saudi Arabia they will get control of the main oil producing country and its enormous wealth. The fall of western capitalism and the collapse of the world into chaos and conflict involving the use of nuclear weapons starting in Israel would be a realistic possibility.

If it is a success the result will be a huge step towards the New World Order. What will have to happen for it to be a success?

·              The overthrow of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan.

·              The victory of the moderate faction of President Katami over the fundamentalists in Iran.

·              The overthrow of Saddam Hussein’s regime in Iraq.

·              The fall of the North Korean communist regime.

Global effect

These four things would dramatically alter the present world. Afghanistan would no longer threaten the stability of central Asia, which would help the Russians to crush Islamic militancy in the southern republics of the former Soviet Union. Iran would no longer supply the Hizbullah terrorists in southern Lebanon thus reducing the threat from the north against Israel. Iraq would no longer threaten the neighbouring countries (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Israel) with invasion and the world with weapons of mass destruction. The Palestinians would be compelled to come to terms with Israel, on terms which Israel can accept, knowing that there would be no one to fight for them if it came to a conflict. Israel would be willing to make some concessions (dismantling some settlements, accepting a Palestinian state with some sovereignty in Jerusalem) in return for a comprehensive peace settlement enforced by the New World Order.

The fall of North Korea would rid the world of a regime supplying weapons of mass destruction to unstable regions (especially the Middle East). Since North Korea is a basket case where there is a total collapse of production and the population is destitute this would bring about an economic challenge to the Far East, where China is growing in power.

All of these developments would bring together the USA, the EU, Russia and China in a concerted effort to rebuild the shattered regions of central Asia, Iraq and North Korea.

In general terms the Muslim world would come to the conclusion that the fundamentalist / terrorist approach to relations with other countries and government of their own countries is a dead end and has brought them nothing but grief. The present conflict within Islam between fundamentalist / terrorist groups confronting Israel and the West and calling for armed jihad and moderate groups calling for tolerance and ‘spiritual’ jihad would be resolved with victory to the moderates. The powers behind the New World Order would ensure that the message goes out to the Muslim world that their future stability can only be guaranteed by supporting tolerance and moderation. The large oil finds in Central Asia would bring a new prosperity to that region which would make Islamic fundamentalism a less compelling force.

Microchip

Fundamentalist I terrorist cells would continue to exist, but rejected by the mainstream and isolated politically and socially they would have no more power than neo-fascist and communist groups in the West and former Soviet Union today. Nevertheless most people would support the New World Order in bringing in more restrictive laws to prevent terrorism. Some curbing of civil liberties would be considered a necessary thing in order to make peace and safety. A compulsory identity card with a microchip containing information about the person could be made universal. This could lead to a proposal to insert such information under the skin by a microchip, so it could not be lost.

A framework for resolving the Arab Israeli conflict would be found which would be acceptable to the Muslim world now moving towards moderation not confrontation as its goal. Israel would feel free to offer concessions to the Palestinians with the threat of attack from Iraq and Hizbullah removed and the Islamic terrorist movements amongst the Palestinians marginalized.

There would be an economic upturn as people feel a new confidence to invest and spend and new structures are set in place to ensure that disruptive forces are no longer able to wreck the world order. The pressure to accept globalisation and loss of national sovereignty in order to achieve this would become unstoppable. Political parties which oppose it would be marginalized and those which support it would have the backing of the media, the educational system and global financial institutions and have no problem being re-elected in democratic systems which would in effect also become one party states.

Intolerant tolerance

The world having seen the destructive influence of religious fundamentalism would clamour for all religions to sink their differences and come together in a global religion seeking peace and tolerance. Muslims too would be willing to join this having themselves now rejected the radicals. This could lead to a brief window of opportunity to evangelise the Muslim world by Christians. But within this new tolerance there would be intolerance for those who proclaim that there is only one way to God through repentance and faith in Jesus the Messiah. Christians who warn against the New World Order bringing in the Antichrist would be considered dangerous fanatics who are a threat to the peace.

People would begin to say ‘We have got peace and safety at last.’ In their appreciation of the New World Order they would give their allegiance to its emerging global leader who would be considered a Messiah for our time.

For the rest of the story read the Book of Revelation.
